Our designers develop modern, high-quality furniture and flooring decors on the basis of the various veneers, planks of solid wood and stone samples that they keep in stock.
In the first step, the selected material is either photographed with a digital camera or scanned into a large format scanner for conversion into finely-detailed digital files. Sections of the resulting print-outs are then composed into a layout, after which 1:1 inkjet proofs are made for checking and discussion with sales colleagues and customers.
In the next step, the layout files are edited by our specialists at powerful workstations, whereby each one is separated into three or four colours according to the number of printing cylinders intended for the decor. Each individual colour is worked over in a laborious process, after which the separation files are transferred to the in-house engraving department.
Using a digital engraving approach, a diamond stylus cuts tiny recesses for holding the ink into the cylinder, whereby it is the size and position of these recesses, or cells, that determine the desired image. A thin layer of chromium plating is then applied to reduce wear on the copper coating during long gravure press runs.
After the engraving has been completed, separations and composite proofs are made and the results are discussed. Once okayed, the cylinders can be used to produce decors in all kinds of colourways, ranging from woodgrains in light and dark variations, stone decors in multicoloured or plain versions, etc.
The modern designs, high-quality printing cylinders and skilful colour selection involved in our decor development work all contribute to the success of our decors.
