Schattdecor supports project to clear land mines

Ground installation wins Art Directors Club award for spatial communication

In collaboration with a laminate flooring company Schattdecor is supporting a campaign created by the advertising agency Heine/Lenz/Zizka to draw attention to land mines and the devastating effect that they have on victims' lives.

Medico international, an organisation awarded the Nobel Prize in 1997, is the initiator of the "600 x Freedom of Movement – Clear the Mines" campaign, which also involves the concept artist Peter Zizka. The goal of the campaign is to underscore the danger of land mines and support the work of mine clearance teams.
Peter Zizka's contribution has been to design "The Virtual Minefield", a ground installation consisting of 600 laminate flooring tiles measuring 80 x 80 cm each and showing photographic reproductions of land mines. The installation has already been set up at various places in Germany, including the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.
In line with the motto "Clear a Virtual Minefield", Schattdecor has bought one of the floor tiles for €500, thus helping provide people in high-risk regions with a greater degree of safety and freedom of movement.
