Schattdecor took its first step abroad in late 1993, when it set up a joint venture by the name of Maltaprint in Poznań, Poland, for the production of decor paper. It bought the company outright on April 1, 1996, renaming it Schattdecor Sp. z o.o., and began work on constructing it new premises in Tarnowo Podgórne in February 1998.
