Schattdecor gained impressive confirmation of its decor development expertise at the Cologne International Furniture Show (IMM) in January, where many of its decors were on view in the new collections of numerous national and international furniture makers. The fact that its results for 2007 also proved to be successful is further reason for the world market leader in decor paper to take an optimistic view of 2008.
At Bad Salzuflen's M.O.W. furniture ordering show earlier last year, Schattdecor had already made a favourable impression on direct and indirect customers with such new decors as Valais Plum, Virginia Walnut, Lyon Walnut and Moldau Acacia. Recalling the event, Chief Sales Executive Hartwig Dickten states, "Our new best-selling decors were in much evidence in the programmes of all major residential furniture and kitchen cabinet makers, and this gave us a premonition of how things might be in Cologne".
At January's furniture show in Cologne, members of Schattdecor staff were thus able to proudly note many of the company's latest best-selling decors on the exhibits of practically all leading residential furniture manufacturers in halls 7 and 8 in particular, where the "imm smart" (Young Living") section of the event was taking place.
Klaus Steinger, Chief Technical Officer at Schattdecor, regards the fact that the company's decors were featured in the home furnishings brochures of large furniture chains as confirmation of his long experience. As he said, "It was this that enabled us to be the first to recognise the splintwood trend and respond with the right woodgrain decors."
And indeed, Schattdecor is now harvesting the fruits of the CTO's work. The company has never garnered so many first-time orders from all over the world as it did last year, with its latest generation of best-selling decors not only causing a sensation on all international markets but also eliciting a huge demand. And thanks to growing acknowledgement of its foil expertise all over the world, its decors are increasingly being produced not only with melamine surfaces but also with foil coatings.
It was thus not without pride that CEO Reiner Schulz was able to note early this year that Schattdecor had done well in 2007 despite the more difficult conditions prevailing on the markets. As he stated, the company was able to repeat its performance of 2006, which, as he said, had been "the best year in Schattdecor's history so far", generating sales in 2007 of €420 million and an output of 103,000 metric tons of decor paper and 210 million square metres of lacquered and impregnated surfaces.
It is thus with confident anticipation that the company is looking forward to the ZOW in Bad Salzuflen this February, where it will be displaying its products at a 180-square-metre booth. And as Corporate Communications head Bernd Reuß reveals, "Our showing will be totally unusual, quite unlike anything we or our competitors have put on before. This year we will be demonstrating our decor expertise in a way that is sure to amaze our customers – just wait and see".
